Heyling’s Journey

If you’ve joined us here at Costa Dulce anytime in the last 6 years, you’ll surely remember our bright and bubbly team member Heyling from either the front desk, dinner service or the impromptu salsa classes in the kitchen. Heyling’s family is a long-standing and integral part of our community, with his wife Maricela being one of our cherished massage therapists, his lively son Andrews providing occasional comic relief at reception and his precious daughter Analee just celebrating her 1st birthday.

Unfortunately, after struggling with some stomach issues in the past couple months, Heyling was diagnosed with Stage 4 Gastric Cancer which has metastasized into the spine. Although this is one of the most dreadful diagnosis, Heyling is stepping up to this fight with fervor and the support of the whole community. A full spectrum approach will require chemo, radiation, nutritional and other complimentary therapies.

Thus far, Costa Dulce has covered all expenses, but the cost of required treatments to battle through will quickly accumulate. We are calling on you, our extended community, for extra support so that Heyling can start fighting this from all angles and ensure he is provided the proper ongoing care. Anything you are able to contribute is immensely appreciated and will make an immediately impact.

We’ve struggled to find a fundraising platform that provides service in Nicaragua, so for now we’ll be accepting donations through our Paypal account under the eml info@costadulcebeach.com please send as friends/family and label your transfer “Heyling Garcia” so we can use the full amount towards his and his family’s ongoing needs.

To provide transparency on how donations are being spent, we’ll keep start a Google doc and link here with tracked donations and expenses. Links and more information coming soon.
